ATV and UTV Trails near Benton Harbor, MI

Michigan's Lower Peninsula is full of awesome wilderness areas to explore. One of the best ways to get out and see this part of the country is on a Polaris® or Can-Am® ATV or UTV. There is nothing like driving your ATV through the dense forest only to splash through a rippling stream. We've picked a couple of trails that you should definitely take the time to check out.

Leota Trail

The Leota trail is over 50 miles of intersecting paths that run through Clare, Missaukee, and Roscommon counties. Right in the heart of the lower peninsula, this beautiful complex of trails allows you to explore Michigan's back country and see a great range of natural species as you zip down the trail. With plenty of winding ups and downs, coupled with dense trees and underbrush, this trail may be best suited for intermediate and advanced riders. The trails are narrow so it's important to obey the 50” vehicle width limit.

White Cloud Loop

The White Cloud Loop starts at the southern end of Newaygo county. At around 26 miles round trip, this trail is a great day trip. Like many other trails, the way forward can be extremely tight in spots, so an ATV or UTV wider than 50 inches would easily get wedged between trees. The entire trail is two way traffic, so you'll need to be aware of other riders, however there are only a few places where the corner will obstruct your view, so you'll generally be able to see someone heading your way. There aren't any really challenging hills to climb on this ride, despite the elevation changes. All in all this ride is a great way to spend a day.

Snowmobiling Trails

Michigan has some of the finest snowmobiling trails in the country. With thousands of miles of groomed trails on public and private land, there isn't a part of the state that you can't find a trail to ride when there is snow on the ground. On a new or used snowmobile you'll be able to see Michigan in a unique, and fun way.

Snowmobile route 590 - 59 route

Starting in the south end of Coloma, this trail forms a loop which passes through Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties. Heading south from the starting point in coloma you'll head roughly southeast, and then back to the west where you'll encounter a junction. South from the junction along snowmobile route 59 you'll soon head west to loop back north past Magician Lake. At the next junction you'll head back to the West, which will put you on track towards your start point. Like many of the snowmobile trails on the lower peninsula, this route crosses quite a few highways and roads as it winds through Michigan's farm country so make sure you're cautious and visible as you ride.

Snowmobile Route 182

This route doesn't allow for a loop, but it makes a great days ride to make a round trip. Beginning just south of New Buffalo, this route follows the Michigan / Indiana border. This trail doesn't cross any major highways, however it does weave across quite a few back roads. At just over 20 miles one way (until it reaches the Indiana border) it would be wise to budget a full day for this ride.
