ATV and UTV trails

Everyone who rides has their favorite trails, but part of the excitement of ATV and UTV riding is getting out and exploring a new location. When you decide to get your Polaris® ATV, or Can-Am® UTV out of the garage, take a weekend and check out some of these awesome trails on the lower peninsula, you'll be glad you did.

Crapo Creek Trail

The Crapo Creek Trail is a 26 mile ride through Ostego County in the northern reaches of the lower peninsula. Running largely parallel to the Crapo Creek Trail is a route trail that allows access for full sized UTVs, but the loop itself is limited to vehicle of 50” maximum width. The Trail itself is a narrow winding track, but well it is also well maintained and makes a great run through the dense Michigan forests. WHen you've finished this run there are plenty of other trails you can check out in this area of the state, so even though the crapo creek ride is fairly short, it's a good place to warm up for longer rides that are around Ostego county

.

Mio Trail and Route

The Mio Trail and Route is about 40 miles of trails dedicated to ATV and UTV riding is Oscoda county in the northeast lower peninsula. The trail is fairly wide, smooth, sandy riding, so the Mio trail is a good place for newer riders who are looking for a pretty ride without needing an abundance of skill. Because most of this trail is dedicated specifically to ATVs or smaller vehicles, you'll want to be mindful about where you wind up taking your side by side on this ride. The Mio Trail intersects and overlaps with the MCCCT (Michigan Cross Country Cycle Trail) so be aware that there may be some faster moving off road bike traffic moving along the trails with you.

Snowmobile Trails

When the snow moves in it's time to pull your snowmobile out of storage. Fortunately the groomers waste little time in getting the trails in shape for you to enjoy an awesome ride. Take some time and explore these awesome locations here in the lower peninsula and get the most out of your Arctic Cat® or Ski-doo snowmobile.

Trail 7 near Houghton Lake

Trail 7 runs north/south around the west side of Houghton Lake and Higgin Lake, near Prudenville. This track uses mostly back roads through the stretch near the lakes, which means amenities are not very plentiful. IF you're making a southward run, you can jump onto Trail 6 and head over to Prudenville for fuel or food.

Trail 6 south of Houghton Lake

South of Houghton Lake, Trail 7 runs into a junction and splits into Trail 6 heading west. This gives riders in the area access to more resources than those who stay on the north/south track, as heading south on trail 655 gives you access to fuel, and heading north takes you near Prudenville where you can find a bite to eat and somewhere to warm up
