Cedar Creek Trail

The Cedar Creek Trail runs 24 miles through the beautiful Huron-Manistee National Forest area. This trail is restricted to vehicles 50” wide or less, so it's perfect for ATVs or dirt bikes. This winding ride is an easy, sandy ride, great for all experience levels. The forest is dense throughout this area, so you may encounter downed branches or trees along the trail. Also, because the trail is quite narrow, you'll want to make sure you watch your speed so you don't damage your vehicle. Soggy weather may make the trails a bit soft, so you'll want to make sure your vehicle has four wheel drive, A winch may also be useful if you need to move an obstacle or get out of some some soft ground. The cedar creek trail also has several highway crossings, so be on the lookout for traffic as you enjoy your ride.

Silver Lake ORV area

The Silver Lake ORV area is great for anyone who wants to take their ATV or UTV out to play in the dunes. With around 2000 acres of room to play, Silver Lake is a great place to test out your off road vehicle on the steep hills and open sand. All of the terrain at this location is soft sand, so appropriate tires are as must if you don't want to wind up stuck. Like many dune locations, all vehicles require a safety flag while riding in the off road areas to ensure all other riders can see you coming. This location is open from April 1st through October 31st every year, with hours that vary depending on the time of year.

Snowmobile Riding Areas

Michigan is home to plenty of great snowmobiling trails. Throughout the state there are over 6,200 miles of groomed trails. The area around Muskegon is no exception. This trail is open from December 1st, to March 31st. It's primarily a north south route that runs roughly parallel to SR-31. The official Department of Natural Resources trail numbers for this route are 19 and 191. Route 19 has parking areas in Hart, Shelby, and Rothbury which allow easy access. For those who want to make a loop of their riding route, the trail splits in Montague, which allows you to take route 191 back north without having to backtrack. There are several road crossings as you ride this trail, so be aware, and make sure to watch your speed.

Snowmobile Route 192 -19

Heading straight east from Muskegon, route 192 runs through Sullivan. There is a junction halfway between Sullivan and Ravenna, where 192 intersects with (and turns into) route 19. From that junction the trail heads through Ravenna and turns southeast towards Conklin to where it terminates just northeast of Marne. Although this trail doesn't cross any major highways, it does intersect with plenty of country roads At just around 20 Miles this trail is not too long, but it would be best if you budget plenty of time to enjoy this ride.
